Our last performance of the 2016/2017 academic year was a fantastic success and what a performance to end our concert schedule. The public in Slane are still talking about the superb concert to celebrate the Francis Ledwidge Centennial.
So, we plan for another year and it is over to our soloists first. On Saturday next, August 19th, Michael Leavey, a dedicated and enthusiastic young accordionist, from Slane will represent his hometown Slane and Co. Meath in the Community Games National Finals in Dublin. Best of luck Michael.
On Saturday 26th August a number of our soloists will give a recital at the Duleek GAA Sportsday.
On Monday 28th August, a number of our members who qualified for the Trophee Mondiale, are privileged to be invited to perform at a concert in Bailieboro, Co. Cavan, alongside the Wiesbaden Accordion Orchestra, Germany. Concert commences in the local Church at 7.30pm.
Orchestra Resumes.
Music classes will resume for Primary Orchestra on Wednesday 6th September and Intermediate Orchestra on Friday 8th September.
National Funding.
We are delighted to receive a grant of €2497 from Music Network to help us build up our instrument bank. We now have our own drum kit, Xylophone and increased our accordion stock. These instruments further advance the possibilities for additional education for our members.
And so, our year begins and we are looking forward to an exciting year of performance, competition and fun filled activity.
